I think. I know it's a mud/musk turtle and I think it's a common. Found it wrapped up in fishing line on it's back; this was taken after getting the line off before putting her back by the water.

Finding a turtle like that was upsetting.

Turtle was at the edge of the trail, facing the water (200 yards away, 20ft lower in elevation). Obviously not a Common Musk Turtle (Sternotherus odoratus), so I picked it up and took many photos. Not sure of ID. Turtle was released into the grass about 20 yards away from the trail.
