Empoasca pteridis was listed as a synonym of Hebata solani in the latest revision of the tribe, but European experts have pointed out that there are clear differences in the genitalic structure between solani and pteridis. I'm moving the species into Hebata (provisionally under the same subgenus as solani) in order to follow the revision in showing that Empoasca in the strict sense is a new world genus.
