On clay bank in south facing riparian forest in low light under 150? year old kauri (Agathis australis) with a kānuka (Kunzea robusta) and totara (Podocarpus totara var. totara) canopy with a understorey of tanekaha (Phyllocladus trichomanoides) silver fern (Alsophila tricolor), Myrsine australis, Coprosma spathulata subsp. spathulata, Leucopogon fasciculatus, Geniostoma ligustrifolium var. ligustrifolium, Freycinetia banksii, Phormium tenax, Melicytus ramiflorus subsp. ramiflorus, Coprosma arborea, Hedycarya arborea, Rhopalostylis sapida and Gahnia lacera. Groundcovers include Carex banksiana, Adiantum cunninghamii, Asplenium oblongifolium, Oplismenus hirtellus subsp. imbecillis, Dianella sp. bryophytes and kauri leaf litter, with the vine Metrosideros perforata.
Threats to this population include riverbank erosion and Tradescantia fluminensis.
