This is a Red Maple. This broad-leaf tree is seeded-vascular and an angiosperm. This tree is common in Florida and the rest of Eastern United States. Its most defining feature is its star-shaped leaves, which may turn a vibrant red during the winter. This was observed in a forest near the Hillsborough river. The weather was clear, there was no wind, and it was in the mid 90s.
The stems, backs and edges of the leaves appear strikingly dusty, silvery. Tree was near a river separated by a parking lot. bark was bumpy. Y’all, graceful form. Found behind the Maple Leaf Diner in Londonderry, VT.
