On a fencepost. The first photo is under LW UV light, The Ochrolechia is the lichen fluorescing yellow. Note the stream of soredia trailing down the fencepost. Soredia are K+ slow R, C+R, KC+R, P-. Growing with Lecanora simeonensis

This crust with black apothecia was adjacent to the more numerous Ochrolechia lichen. It appeared to be K negative, C plus yellow (brief blush of moderate yellow color under the scope) and without obvious polarizable crystals, spores were averaging 12.5 x 7.5 microns and most spores appeared to be hyaline and non-septate, although a few looked binucleate. I think this keys to Lecanora, but wasn't sure I could rule out Tephromela, for example.

squmules are thick and downturned at edges, white underneath with lemon yellow around area of rhizines (in 4th photos but color doesn't come through).

apothecia are very uncommon - only appearing in protected crevasses. immature apotheica pruinose with green rims; mature are hemispheric, reddish-purple with rim disappearing.

Found by CB on pine bark and collected, spores approximately 42 x 25 microns, keys tentatively to this species (versus oregonensis) based on the apothecial characters. Four images of the C reaction are included - C plus R in epihymenium and exciple cortex as best I can tell. Comments or corrections welcome!

On Salix laevigata in a dry riparian corridor. Spores about 12.4x6.5µ with wide isthmus at 5.0µ. Length:Isthmus ratio=2.5. Probably common in the region, need to see more material to be totally comfortable with ID.

The dark base of the peridium seems to be a feature that separates this species from Lamproderma 'mossy', a similar but smaller species that occurs on the same bryophyte-covered logs and stumps.
