This species is only described in comparion to Chlaenius rufipes.

Dinodes fulvipes (V. Wintheim. Cape of Good Hope).

Black underneath, cyan green above. Head with scattered punctures, thorax densly punctate, almost rounded; with deeply emarginated base. Elytra ovate, very punctate. Base of antennae, palps and legs orange (fulvous).

It differs from Din. rufipes [Chlaenius rufipes] by its more elongated shape, its less punctuated head; its more prominent eyes; its almost rounded thorax, cut squarely anteriorly, with the posterior angles extended posteriorly and rounded, and the strongly indented base; the basal fosette (depression, pit) is also wider, and its upper point is turned towards the exterior edge; the elytra are narrower, less square, sinuous and in no way rounded at the apex; the intervals are a little more elevated, and the last eight articles of the antennae are darker black.
If this Dinodes and the D. affinis, Klug, are synonymous, Dejean confused them with the Dinodes rufipes, from which it is nevertheless distinguished by very essential characteristics.
