The Stinking Dapperling is also known as the Lepiota cristata and is a mushroom in the family Agaricaceae. It is a very common fungus, and the most widespread Lepiota fungus, since it has been found in Europe, Asia, North America and New Zealand. The mushroom is found in clumps in the summer and fall in deciduous forests or meadows and gardens. The cap of the mushroom is bell-shaped and has a red-brown center and scales. Until recently, the mushroom has been considered to be highly toxic, and now it is known as “possibly poisonous”.
