I observed a Silver-spotted Skipper on June 5, 2021, while taking my dog for a walk. At first, I thought it was a regular butterfly but I knew that it was not due to the markings on the wings. Silver-spotted Skippers are animals, which means they belong to Kingdom Animalia. They also belong to Phylum Arthropoda (Arthropods), Subphylum Hexapoda (Hexapods), Class Insecta (Insects), Subclass Pterygota (Winged and Once Winged Insects), Order Lepidoptera (Butterflies and Moths), Superfamily Papilionoidea (Butterflies), Family Hesperiidae (Skippers), Subfamily Eudaminae (Dicot Skippers), Tribe Eudamni and Genus Epargyreus. The scientific name for a Silver-spotted Skipper is Epargyreus clarus. Ever since I first observed one on June 5th, I have been noticing them more often around the same flowers.
