I have a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from the University of Dundee, Scotland, but moved to the Sunshine Coast, QLD, Australia, to pursue my passion for marine ecology. There I obtained my PhD in beach ecology, studying the use of ghost crabs (genus Ocypode) as an ecological indicator of human impacts on sandy beaches.
In 2011 I moved to South Africa, where I still work as a postdoctoral fellow for TREES (Tourism Research in Economic Environs and Society). I keep focusing on studies assessing anthropogenic impacts on sandy beaches, but I have also started looking at various types of coastal tourism, in particular scuba diving.

In 2014 I joined the project Green Bubbles RISE (www.greenbubbles.eu), on sustainable scuba diving. I became a scuba diver myself, and today can finally enjoy what our amazing seas and oceans have to offer, always keeping buoyant ;-)
