I love snakes, spiders and centipedes. From an academic standpoint, the composition of their venom is a biochemical marvel, and I spend no small amount of time searching for them and photographing them in the wild.

As much as I adore snakes, I'm not great at finding them, and while I am fairly good at identifying snakes, particularly Indian species, I lack field experience for more subtle characters. Spiders and centipedes, on the other hand, I see on a practically daily basis and can definitely help with. Feel free to tag me on any observations of these three taxa, and even if I can't give you an ID I can definitely point you in the right direction.

I have no particular favourites among centipedes, but I can't help but have a soft spot for the massive Scolopendra of the tropics, and my white whale for a solid few months, Cryptops anomalans. Same with snakes, and the common but somehow elusive Barred grass snake (Natrix helvetica) that took me more than a year to find, and the Spectacled Cobra (Naja naja) which I still look for in vain. As for spiders, I have quite a few favourite families - Gnaphosidae is probably my all-time favourite but Ctenidae, Sparassidae, Lycosidae, Zodariidae, Mimetidae and Oonopidae are definitely up there.

I also dabble (understatement) in macro photography. My current year is a Canon EOS90D with the Sigma 105 mm Macro lens and a Raynox DCR-150. Feel free to use my photos, but please credit me as the photographer - it takes a lot of time and effort to photograph wildlife.
