Biology Professor, Santa Ana College where I teach animal diversity and ecology to biology majors students, and marine biology, environmental biology and field biology to non-majors. I am also the CEO of Ecomarine Consulting LLC where, for the past 25 years I have consulted to government agencies, municipalities, public entities and private industry on emerging issues of environmental concern.

My academic focus is on subtidal and intertidal marine ecology, pelagic invertebrates, parasitology, entomology, and freshwater aquatic invertebrates.

My applied science focus is on aquatic habitat delineation, eelgrass and kelp assessments, invasive species, environmental compliance monitoring, and public education.

Most of my photos here are of birds, a group of animals I know little about, although they fascinate me. Posting on iNaturalist is a way for me to get to know the birds better.
