I'm currently a postdoc at the University of Turku, Finland studying the impacts of climate change on plant-microbe interactions at the poles. I received my PhD from the University of South Florida in Ecology & Evolution, with a focus on ecological genomics and epigenetics in coastal and invasive plant species. While molecular ecology is my research focus, I enjoy plant and fungi systematics both as an integral component of my work and just for fun. I also have several years' experience teaching university courses in botany, biodiversity, and ecology, of which taxonomy and species identification are significant teaching objectives. Having been born and raised in Florida, I'm most familiar with the flora and fauna of the Southeastern US, but I'm excitedly gaining new identification skills in the taiga biome here in Finland.
