I am from a village called Makatea on a small island called Emae in the Republic of Vanuatu. My village speak the language called Fakamae, also known in literature as Mae or Emae. Fakamae holds a significant position within the approximately 138 languages of Vanuatu, being one of only three Polynesian Outlier languages in the country. However, the Fakamae is listed as an endangered language.
