I am a close observer of botany and wildlife in the woods, streams, and fields of the Northwestern Research Triangle. We live in Durham NC, just over the Orange County line, in a natural area that we call Still Hollow in the New Hope Creek watershed. We are on Pine Mountain Creek, up a branch called Horn Branch, up through the woods from the creek at the edge of a meadow on the brow of the hill, next to a pond between two meadows. A cluster of five ravines drops down to Horn Branch from the meadows and the adjacent properties. I am a Professor at Duke University.
