This is the iNaturalist account for the Grit City Carnivore project, a partnership between the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, and the University of Washington. Together we’re monitoring coyotes and other carnivores within the South Puget Sound region to better understand their distribution, study human-wildlife interactions and promote peaceful co-existence with carnivores.

As a part of our research, we use a network of motion sensitive cameras to track wildlife throughout green spaces in and around the city of Tacoma, Washington. For four seasons each year, we collect wildlife data that we share with the Urban Wildlife Information Network. This account was created to upload observations from camera trap locations that are no longer in use. For every field season, we upload the first clear observation of each species in each site.
