I am a Research Associate at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and Botanical Research Institute of Texas (next door to the Botanic Garden). I enjoy frequent trips to Abilene's Kirby Lake Park to document its biodiversity, especially the amazing number of plant species found there. Another favorite group of taxa are the lichens, which are much understudied. Went to Eagle Hill Institute (Maine) in 2016 to take 2 weeks of lichen workshops, one week from the famed Irwin Brodo, to learn about crustose lichens. PhD in botany from Texas A&M. Did morphometric and molecular work on the grass Dichanthelium acuminatum and its 6-10 (depending on who you ask) subspecies for my dissertation.
