Email: Halmahera(AT)] - Ecologist with an interest in the distribution, conservation status and taxonomy of birds of the Indonesian archipelago, particularly the Lesser Sundas, Timor Island and Timor-Leste (East Timor). My PhD thesis focussed on the ecology and biogeography, of forest birds on Timor and surrounding islands, with several months fieldwork in Lautem Municipality in the far east of Timor-Leste. Have an interest in bird taxonomy which includes the species descriptions of Rote Leaf Warbler + Alor Myzomela with Belgian, Singaporean and Indonesian colleagues. Have been active in explorative surveys of birds in remote mountains, remote islands and monitoring key sites for migratory shorebirds. Also review species accounts of the conservation status of Timor region birds for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) & BirdLife International; developed threatened species listings for birds in Timor-Leste for draft Biodiversity Decree Law in Timor-Leste and have been involved in reviews of the conservation and trade of threatened Timor birds for CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Wrote "The Birds of Timor-Leste".
