God lover, nature lover, dog lover . . . grandfather. An ecologist and conservationist at heart, I have always been fascinated with living creatures and passionate about their protection.

My schooling is in wildlife management from Penn State, and I have functioned primarily as a general field biologist for the past 35 years. I am currently employed by a county park district in northeast Ohio as a conservation planner, performing various inventories to prioritize, protect and restore natural areas. I have been spending recent years creating a Wild Back Yard to Bring Nature Home.

Most of my experience is with terrestrial vertebrates and vascular plants of northeastern US; however, I am interested in all life forms. Unfortunately, I have not mastered the identification of any of them - so a big shout out to iNat and this community - “Thank you!”. Furthermore, I am getting even lazier with my identifications and over-reliant on the computer vision, so really appreciate corrections and specialist screening.
