Found unattached and crawling on my neck approximately 45 minutes after returning home from Elva Lobit Park in League City, TX (29.489541, -95.051748), which is unfortunately in a state of disrepair due to damage by Hurricane Beryl. The grass was uncut and above the knees in most areas, so it's perhaps unsurprising I picked up a hitch hiker.

Observation time stamp is for when photo documentation was made. Tick was found and captured at approximately 20:00 on 28-Aug-2024; I was at Elva Lobit Park from approximately 18:00 to 19:00. The tick was likely acquired within a 150m radius of the coordinates above.
