White Rock lake, pool behind the lower spillway steps
The silver one is about the youngest I've seen at this lake. Almost an all silver head. The 2 adults might be parents but no telling. There was no interaction while I was watching.
Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus)
6 November 2017
Josey Ranch Sports Complex
Carrollton, Dallas County, Texas
Toward dusk this Double-crested Cormorant stood like a sentinel atop a light fixture next to one of the two ponds at the park.
Taken during the 2020 Whooping Crane Festival. We were all so excited to see the Port Aransas pair of Whooping Cranes closer to the pathway than we've ever seen them before! This little Ruby-crowned Kinglet was also nearby and I got to tell people how similar its migration is to the cranes.
