On a twig of Pinus strobus, White Pine.

The fine examples found this day have helped me understand the visual difference between the very similar

• Hypotrachyna lividescens (is essentially adnate, its thallus tightly held to the substrate) ; and
• Myelochroa metarevoluta (has lobe tips raised, if only slightly, especially when soralia are present on the lobe)

Both occurred on the wind-snapped and fallen branches of White Pine, and so by and by made themselves known to me as I photographed the lichens.
