U. audouini?
Enormous, I could have put a saddle on it and ridden into town!
It must have emerged from the woods on the other side of my narrow road. Walked across to the other side, then into the weeds along the edge of my pollinator meadow before I lost track of it.
Clay/sandy, rocky soil. Surrounded by woods with a creek.
Took 96 shots, so there are plenty more to share if a different angle/section needed. I couldn't ever swing around for face pics because he/she was always running away from me.
.... wonder what it was pursuing before I approached and upset the applecart...
sorry for bothering you and pulling you out of your little hole to go into someones collection 💔
I expect I dug up its hole while trail building, explaining the unusual season for this sighting.
~ 1 inch incl. legs; found in NE Florida (fell into pool). Hopefully photos are sufficient for species level ID.
Moth light set-up and nighttime observations by volunteer conducted in coordination with national monument staff. Photographs in situ; no collecting.
