Visual Descriptions/Defining Characteristics: The Resurrection ferns grew in abundance on the trees they were on. They consisted of green leaves, where each individual leaf was similar to the shape of an arrowhead and some had small bumps on them. The root system was composed of thin roots hidden behind the ferns.
Habitat: The Resurrection ferns were founded on an oak tree that was planted by the University of South Florida, but they grew on their own without any human intervention. Thus, even though the South Florida campus is home to lots of trees, the environment is to be considered more urban because it is in the middle of a university campus. Typically, Resurrection ferns range throughout the eastern and central parts of the United States, west to Texas, south to Florida and Mexico and Central America.
