The radiating white spines lacking the more central erect and reddish spines is characteristic of the spine cluster of Coryphantha missouriensis. This site lies in the sagebrush steppe towards the south end of the Lemhi Range just south of the Black Canyon Wilderness Study Area, northeast of Howe Idaho.
