This mating pair was photographed by a hiker at Bender Mountain Nature Preserve, who destroyed the insects after taking the photograph.
I knew I was looking at a Cicada, possibly a year-late breed, at the time of Observation. After speaking to another amateur entomologist, we believe this may be a Pharaoh Cicada. This has been my only sighting of a Periodical for 2022. (Some pictures were taken on Android for GPS/Coordinates.)
Edit: Breed appears to be an early emergence, not late as originally believed.
Some old images that I dug up from 2 years ago - back when I really started insect photography. This seems to be an aberrant?
