Hidden under a pine log. Pine Barrens. A 1.5cm long larva is in the middle of the photo. The fruitbody that was parasitized is gone.
Mold growing on a soft polypore found on hardwoods. The last three pictures show a seemingly uninfected fruitbody from the same cluster as the infected mushroom. I haven't been able to ID the host mushroom. The host may be a Tyromyces sp. sensu lato?
On a broken corticated hardwood twig immersed pyrenomycetes fungi. The area mostly Red Maple, American Beech and some other hardwood.
Asci 8-spored, bitunicate.
Ascospores are dark brown, with 3-septa, large (visible under stereo microscope), surrounded by a gelatinous sheath, measured

Pseudothecia completely immersed, under 1mm in diameter, slightly to distinctly elevating the bark, surrounded by a black stromatic zone.
On deciduous wood, enamel paint-like, resupinate, thick, underneath coat is brownish spongy, very brittle, edge is abrupt. Spores round 7.5 micro. Hyphae dendrohyphidia-like.
