Not completely sure about this one, I believe to be Canada goldenrod but definitely genus Solidago with the added bonus of a Goldenrod Gall fly bulge growing on its stem. The bulge is very hard and large with a leaf growing off of it. The leaves have some purple spots on them and the stem is red. There are more leaves near the top and they are all elliptic in shape.
This appears to be some a hairy goldenaster, indicated by the bright yellow flowers. The leaves are narrow and lance shaped, with soft wavy edges and an alternating leaf pattern. The leaves had many tiny hairs on them. The stem was very strong and also had lots of small hairs emerging from it. The flower itself has yellow long narrow petals with seeds in the middle, similar to a sunflower. PLSC213
