This plant was growing in a dry river bed in a place where no other plants with needles were growing. It had dark green needles that go 360 degrees around each branch. It was about 4 to 5 feet tall and had some epicormic needle growth on the trunk.

seemed to be "sunning" on the rocks; at vernal pool 'Turtle Pond'; about five or six feet from the area with water. about five in the surrounding area; in an area with lots of mud and...algae..? Lots of surrounding life (insects, frogs), also fairly close to surrounding grasses (maybe 3-4 feet)
