Babiana stricta

Mostly the bluish-purple ones with the odd pink flower. Very pretty!

I'd estimate around 200 plants on site, but really tough to guess.

In the past, most of the site was ploughed, but this will not be the case going forward. The veld was grazed very heavily as well, but I've noticed that cattle don't actually eat the Babiana's, but can trample the flowers. If all goes to plan, this would be a new nature reserve before the end of the year. Future development might also threaten this area if something happens and the conservation area cannot be agreed on.
