Collected by Cody Hill, photographed by myself. Characteristic ventral colouration distinguishing it from Idiothele nigrofulva. Posted here for future reference. 2cm body length, still juvenile. Sex unknown.
Found in the bath just before a thunderstorm. Relocated outside to a collection of large shale rocks. Fairly large, but still able to squeeze down the bath's drainage pipe.
Sesotho name = Sekhoe saseholo
A few days prior to this discovery, a large female Theraphosid was found on the same farm. She was described as having thick legs and a golden-orange starburst on the carapace, and with the body colouration tending to orange. She was found in an extensive surface web that spanned grass tussocks and rocky areas in an area about 1m by 40cm. Reacted defensively to approaching footsteps, and the web consistency was described as fairly strong.
