OMFG!!!!! Stinknet!!!!! Does anyone know if there is any official or agency I should report it to?? I want to alert my neighbors but I want to be able to tell them what to do if they see it -- other than put on disposable gloves and rip it out.
Caught my eye as I saw the bee flying into it on the trail! I was surprised to learn while identifying it that hibiscus plants are members of the mallow family (Malvaceae). Funnily enough, the picture used in my field guide was also taken Saguaro Park West (though back when it was still declared only a monument).
I've really been trying to take note of what types of stems wildflowers have when identifying them, and I was surprised to feel how woody the ones on this plant are! I guess it makes sense to support the large flowers and visits from pollinators.
