Aedes japonicus male in Bamboo Forest on Pu‘u ‘Ōhi‘a

I noticed this very large mosquito on a wall behind a bed in our house.

This mosquito hatched from larva found in a small pool of water in a dry stream bed in a forest. The coloring is gorgeous.
