Growing underwater in the river at a depth of about a third of a meter. Location was almost the same as a sighting from the previous week

Machaeranthera canescens begins vegetative growth by early summer, but peak flowers during the late summer in the Wyoming big sagebrush steppe of the Idaho National Laboratory. This site lies just east of Lincoln Blvd along Shell Road, Butte County, Idaho.

I found several plants of this species, but only this one with vital flowers and with really beautiful leaves. It stands on the bare face of a rock overlooking a river valley (Wadi Kalesan) in the northeast of Socotra.

Very interesting in UV, as the flowers have more variations in color than in visible light in which it appears uniformly orange..

See www.inaturalist.org/observations/75044245. I do not recall if this was the same animal reported in the previously mentioned observation. The date may be off by a week or more. This animal was eaten by the local men the evening it was caught.

A single foraging grey and gold sugar ant (minor) seen and photographed on a leaf sipping some liquid off the leaf - not sugar water. She scooted off quite quickly. Medium sized ant around 8-9mm I would guess - could be out a little. The petiole node is very thick. Not sure which campo this is - will have to investigate.
