This shot not only captured the White-throated Needletail opening it's mouth to capture prey, but looking closely also reveals the insect prey item about a body length ahead of the bird.

A flock of up to a hundred individuals circled over the house catching insects before moving further north. I've tried to separate individuals based on markings and feather damage.

no white eye ring or white moustache, please note these are known for this area it is a hybrid. Phylidonyris niger X novaehollandiae (Hybrid)

Field Notes - Small, roundish ground dwelling bird; red eye; white flecked crown, face and breast; chestnut shoulder patch. Cautiously moving around in the scrub, ready to run when threatened.
