This is one of my all-time favorite genera. New world pit vipers are truly amazing.

Female, missing tail segments, several ticks imbedded on the lateral part and mid length of animal.

Very small, found on ladder canyon trail in Mecca Hills Wilderness. Seems juvenile.

Look like it had a rattle but it never shook its tail.

This emerged from a small cave and went down a hole in the ground.

In ambush position under a juniper. Some odd stuff under it. I can see rodent nests in the skulls. A nice little spot for a rattler!
