This observation is for the spider. The crab is logged in a separate observation. A crab was observed in the spider's web, still alive. Evidently it must have fallen into the web from a tree trunk above. It was unable to free itself and at first the spider kept its distance. Within a couple of hours, The crab was no longer moving, suggesting that the spider had successfully administered a venomous bite. The crab was subsequently trussed up in silk and carried higher up in the web by the spider.

Very Popular! Observed at least 10 species of birds feeding on the fruit of 2 trees; 1 did not bear fruit. ( male? ) Also 6 spp. of Butterflies, 3 spp. Beetles, 6 spp. Flies feeding on the fallen fruit...

If I coulda got a shot when he jumped and stayed on top of my big old hairy head I would have... that's just a small chip of Chert I spotted down near the power box he's perched on in the first photo...

At first I saw only the spider (Telamonia dimidiata). Then I noticed it seemed to be attached to something, and a photo revealed the jaws of a larva of an owlfly (Ascalaphinae, Myrmeleontidae).
