There were many of these at this tree and they were very loud. Not shy at all.

Perhaps Eurys genus?
This creature was shining metallic green on top in the sunlight, and underneath there is a yellow pattern with a glint of purple.
The flower it is on is Philotheca buxifolia.
It visited lots of flowers on this plant before departing.
Warm (perhaps 18C but it felt warmer) and sunny, and light winds

Speaking of Sawflies, I found this little one dead in our rain gauge the other day.
A most unusual sawfly, I thought it was a beetle at first. Looking on here I saw Paul's id of Janet's and thought it was remarkably similar.
Further research showed it was a gr8 match (from what I could understand) of Antargidium atriceps, from the paper.

I left my id overnight to simmer in the pot. Next morning I took a confirmation look and realised the antennae are placed in a totally different place (very low down) on the face compared to Antargidium. So not even that genus!
Back to the drawing board.
Do you recognise it?
The two black patches on the pronotum stand out against the orange background very clearly to the eye, not so much in the photo's.

Super exciting! First live adult sawflies I've seen. Quite tame, let me get up close with the camera. Likely a male and female together.

Found quietly resting on low understory shrubbery near rear of North Dunes late afternoon. Eucalypt tree canopy(various, mainly local provenance leucoxylon and camaldulensis) with Myoporum insulare, Acacia uncifolia and Acacia pycnantha as the main midlevel plants .
[I wondered if it was newly emerged but could not find an exit hole at ground level to support that thought. However there was dense leaf and twig litter so an exit hole would probably have been obscured.
