There were at least 4 of these wasps at the park, all making holes in the dirt about 15ft from a decently sized pond (not pictured on map).

I waited for one to dig a hole, then quickly and quietly got right up to the entrance.

The first picture is it looking out, and the three after are of the wasp scooping dirt to cover the entrance, with a single scoop in between photos. I included the final photo to show the abdomen, as that is a very easy way to identify sand wasps.

Afterwards, I spent 8+ minutes watching it cover and level the land until there was no trace remaining.

Unfortunately, the wasp had flown away for a while, so I moved to give it space to return, and was unable to get close after it got back.
