Galls on Q. phellos flowers
Many of these flowers with galls also had small wasps on them (see https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/159999238)
Tree was split clean in 2 by a large Quercus coccinea limb that fell. Interestingly the tree is still alive and one side of it was covered in these adventitious shoots. Stress response?
this thing was found in a small cliffside, tucked away in a nook, at first i thought it was a root but then i picked it up and it was super light and porous it had small holes in it, which makes me thinks its a gall of some kind, but it was underground so i am very confused
Found larvae of some kind in a dead fruit off of a tree
Galls appear to be hijacked by Augochloropsis metallica. Interestingly, one bee has red eyes and the other, dark.
Rescued from here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/83091842
4 males, 2 females
tentatively diagnosed as dehydrated and hypoglycemic
Brought to local rehabber for care
I went outside to go for a walk, picked up one of my boots, and started to put it on. They're almost too small, so I had to do some wiggling to get my foot in. I often don’t wear socks in my shoes, which I think was a good thing in this case. My foot was most of the way in when it touched something furry. I froze, trying to figure out what it was. It didn’t move either. Then I yanked my foot back out and looked inside, and there was a little rodent in there! I pinched the top of the boot shut before it could escape, then called to my mom that I needed my camera right now and I probably shouldn’t come in the house because I was holding a boot with a rat in it. She brought my camera out and I took some adorable pictures before it ran back into the toe. Then I dumped it out and it ran away.
Pupa and larval mines. See https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/66665711 for the adults I reared from these mines.
Aphid of some sort but the suction cup structure beneath is what is confusing. Any ideas/information?
Bloom spikes (flower stalks)on Texas Mountain Laurel that have fasciated growing points - the bloom spikes starts pencil like and then flares like a skirt.
Emerged from gall (with help after it made no progress overnight)
Fairly sure this is actually the adult for the marcrocarpae gall
Poor guy got pinned by a devil's club needle
Yellow drawings on Nabulus albus leaves
Found inside a Phylloxera sp gall on Carya texana leaf (cut in half when cutting open the gall. Gall observation here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/55635785
An Ichneumonoid wasp hatched out of it: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/48895456

Picture 4: Gall_1; mostly green, coloured brown around the opening. The attachment point on the leaf was on the right side.
Picture 5: Gall_1; dissected
Picture 6: Gall_1; dissected, 80x magnification
Picture 7: Gall_2; completely brown, dissected, faeces (?) inside
Picture 8 and 9: thing I found inside Gall_2. Size: 1.5mm
This wasp hatched out of a Phyllocoptes eupadi gall (Obs.: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/48548815 )
The second picture was taken at 20x magnification. Specimen available for additional pictures.
On leaves in the white oak group (possibly Q. austrina x stellata).
This appeared on a neighbor's boat and motor. No clue what this could be. I was thinking fungus or something similar but I cant match it to anything. Thoughts?
Before I knew it was a bad idea I put my husky’s she’s fur in a duet holder on my tree and I just went out to clean it out since I know it can be bad for animals but something is or has been in there! So I am not sure what to do now? Leave it ? Take it out ? And I would love to have ideas or what would do this? Carder bees? I did see a squirrel ball up the fur and running away with it but not staying there

Is this an egg sac? About 1cm across in the grass.
Just after sundown. Even in the dark you can see the glowing green wings.
This one seems to be the same species as the one two down from here in the observations. I'm sorry the fly isn't so clear but the appendage is.
