Small Spider (probably Pellenes sp. - Family:Salticidae) near Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Photographed on 6 February 2009.
A very small spider (ca. 4mm long) found on outside wall of house.
"The salticid looks similar to a Maratus species that is already on my website (www.usq.edu.au/spider/find/spiders/459.htm) except that the white and black bands appear to be reversed on this specimen. (pers. comm. Ron Atkinson, USQ).
Robert Whyte (2011) commented (https://www.flickr.com/photos/arthur_chapman/3265370755) "Can't be Maratus because Maratus has very obviously longest leg III. Of all the Salticids these ones with the lengthways stripes I find the most puzzling. I have seen juveniles myself but never an adult to be able to key out".
