Taipan in the carpark!
Identified as Oxyuranus scutellatus on Bowerbird by Matthew Connors: "A funny story with this one - someone told me about a snake in some bushes near the car park, and thinking it would be a python or tree snake I went out to take a look. I couldn't find anything after a few minutes so I assumed it had moved on, when suddenly a skink ran out from the bushes in front of me. Surprised, I assumed it was running away from something - sure enough the head of a taipan was the next thing to come out of those bushes! A few of us managed to slowly (and safely) shuffle it out across the carpark and into the forest, with a little help getting it through a tight fence. An exciting afternoon for sure!"
