First feeding sign of moose gnawing on trees that I've observed this winter. Last year's feeding signs above it. I wonder if moose start feeding on tree trunks/bark around the same date every year, or if it has more to do with winter conditions, moose nutrition status, etc.

С этого наблюдения начался ежегодный мониторинг болотных сов на участке дороги длиной 35 километров по маршруту: перекресток дороги Академгородок-Ключи с дорогой на Морозово ("Болдыревская" дорога - перекресток с дорогой, связывающей Болдыревскую дорогу с дорогой Искитим-Верх Коен, далее до дороги Искитим-Верх-Коен, далее до перекрестка с дорогой на Китерню, далее до конечной точки маршрута - перекрестка с дорогой на Дубинский. Эта встреча была сделана мной во время поездки на астрономические наблюдения. Фото сделано на телефон непосредственно из окна машины с расстояния около полуметра. За поездку тогда было встречено несколько десятков болотных сов. Следующие поездки делались уже коллективно и целенаправленно для учета сов и других ночных птиц и зверей. За время этих поездок на дороге в ночное время в период с мая по октябрь наблюдались болотные, ушастые совы, домовый сыч, сплюшки, уральская и бородатая неясыти, вальдшнепы, перевозчик, козодой. Непосредственно в окрестностях фиксировались поющие коростели.

Bird on the bottom. This harrier caught a rodent, but was immediately ambushed by a diving short-eared owl. The harrier defended itself while retaining the food in one foot.

Saw this beauty while walking a somewhat hidden trail at an area park. She/he was shaking her tail like gopher/bull snakes do to sound like a rattlesnake. Should have caught it on video. Peacefully, I departed the area. Was a great observation.

Refreshed by @caiawatha on 11/10. I didn't position the camera very well, and I also think the camera maybe was not functioning 100%. Whatever the reason, the first and only day with camera trap pictures with a visible animal was 11/16, when a mixed flock of Alaskan avian scavengers (bald eagles, ravens, magpies) descended and made a bit of a fuss.

She was stuck in the garage with her head through a grate, pushed her out through and convinced her to drink some sugar water. Hopefully she’ll fly away soon!!! She’s occasionally chirping and moving around, very slow though
