There were at least 2 beaver here, and someone said 3 - possibly including a mature pup.
I missed the best moment; two met in front of the lodge and held one another. It happened as I was approaching the area and I just couldn't get a shot before they broke up :(
They were very active, in & out of the lodge and moving around the pond.
Very interesting to me: one seemed to be digging at the bank right by the lodge (photo 2). It gathered up some material, holding it with its mouth and paws. Then it walked upright up the bank (photos 3-5), deposited its load, and returned to the water (photos 6-8). I really wondered what it was up to. Taking out the trash? Clearing vegetation that had grown over the lodge openings, or digging an additional accessway? Something else?
Saw these two chilling next to each other without much acknowledgement.
