This species is endemic to coastal southern Somalia, with records from the Mogadishu and Middle Shebelli regions (Lanza 1990).

This is a burrowing species that, based on its coastal distribution and its absence from more arid northern Somalia, is thought to prefer relatively humid soils (Parker 1942). No other ecological data are available.

This species is "not uncommon" (Parker 1942).

There is presumably no use or trade in this species.

It is unknown whether any threats to this species exist.
