Sunday Morning
You all were busy overnight - the total number of New England plant observations needing IDs stands at 582,637, a decrease of 7,298 from Friday at 7 PM. At the species level, the number of Needs ID observations is currently 265,789, down an astonishing 6,055 from Friday. Wow, wow, wow! Beyond my wildest dreams!

@slamonde, you guessed we'd hit over 5,000 species-level IDs - I think we made it!
@lynnharper We sure did! I've enjoyed watching IDs come in on old plant observations of mine, and I hope the thousands of observers whose observations we've added ID's to this weekend feel the same way. Thank you for organizing this event!
I wish there were a batch ID tool. I picked a species that I know well (Polygunum articulatum) which is fairly easy to ID once you've seen it enough times, even from blurry photos. I got almost 90 species-level IDs to research grade but that's a lot of right/left/back clicking!! Now I'm going for it's partner in sand Hypericum gentianoides. There are 85 observations to go through, at least a few dozen I could do just from the grid view! Instead I have to click on each, Agree, maybe add a comment, then go back for the next one.
Does anyone know an easier way?
@stephanieradner, you could try the Identify tab at the top of each page. You'd have to filter for New England and species, but then if you feel confident about the ID just from looking at the smallish photos, you can click Agree and move on. I just did a bunch of Queen Anne's Lace that way, but I skipped the observations that were just leaves or from far away, etc. It was certainly much faster than opening each one from the Explore tab, which is what I usually do, but the species has to be pretty distinctive. I think the Identify tab works great for, say, photos of Northern Cardinals, but not always so well for plants.
@lynnharper thanks for the tip! I agree, it's not usually an option for plants, but there are a few that are very unique! I'll try the Identify tab.
