Stink Bug watch
Ameeds, who I'm sure you all know because he is our #1 Stink Bug identifier, just sent me this message:
"I wanted to ask you to keep an eye out for a stink bug that I think is newly arrived to southern California. I haven't seen any observations that make it quite as far north as your observations, but you're close enough to the area that they may still be around.

Previously, these guys only have US records in south Texas, but an expert that I talked to said that if anyone was able to collect physical specimens for him to arrange to have sent for examination and confirmation of identity, this would be a very interesting record and may be a species that requires closer study as a possibly harmful invasive.

Just in case you come across it, and/or have Glossy Privets in your neighborhood. Laura?!

@kimssight, there was a sighting of a nymph in Lakewood a couple of days ago: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/63037335 If you find one, try to get the specimen, please.
Thanks Andrea. I also saw this on iNat, but not sure where. Do you know ameeds? I have a similar concern as that discussed with regard to collecting the choreutid moth last month. I will definitely keep an eye out, but may send it up to Marc in Sacramento if I find one. Thoughts?
I believe Ameeds (https://www.inaturalist.org/people/ameeds) is legit. He's a curator, incredibly helpful, and one of the people I would consider an iNat friend. But best is -- if you find a bug, reach out to him and share any concerns you might have based on your previous experience, and ask for the direct contact to the expert he spoke about.

Thanks for calling it to my attention. I see that the Lakewood location is rather close to me. I occasionally bird in the park close to there. I will make a point to go to that park. Also I will keep an eye out and carry a vial. I will let you know if I find one. Did you contact the person in Lakewood?
