Join us in San Francisco for a grassroots, smartphone-powered bioblitz to catalogue every living species we can find in Heron's Head Park and India Basin over in SF's Bayview neighborhood.
You bring your smart phone (or digital camera) and tons of enthusiasm. We’ll rally some experts and folks who know the area. Together we’ll make some science!
The fun starts at 9 AM Saturday, November 8 at the Heron's Head EcoCenter, at 32 Jennings St, SF, CA 94124.
A Bio-Blitz is an intensive one-day study of biodiversity in a specific location. We’ll look for birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, butterflies, insects, spiders, trees, flowers, mushrooms, even microcbes and slime molds!
People of all ages and skill levels are welcome! Bring your smart phone for sure. Bonus: camera, binoculars, and magnifying glasses. We’ll enter observations in iNaturalist and join together at the end to find out how many observations we made and how many species we found.
Brought to you by Nerds for Nature, the California Academy of Sciences, SF Environment, Nature in the City, Candlestick Point Ecostewards, Ecocenter at Heron’s Head Park, Golden Gate Audubon Society, Kids in Parks, Literacy for Environmental Justice, Port of San Francisco, Presidio Trust, San Francisco Recreation and Parks, and Seedfund. פחות ↑
