No annual CITES export quotas for K. boehmei have been issued between 2000 and 2013 (CITES 2013). In 2011 and 2012 (2012 trade data may be incomplete and 2013 data is currently unavailable) 980 live captive bred or farmed individuals were exported from Kenya for commercial purposes (UNEP-WCMC 2013). A further 100 live farmed individual "Kinyongia tavetana" were exported from Kenya for commercial purposes in 2011 (UNEP-WCMC 2013), which may also represents exports of K. boehmei.
