No annual CITES export quotas for K. xenorhina have been issued between 2000 and 2013 (CITES 2013). Between 1977 and 2011 (2012 and 2013 trade data is incomplete or unavailable) a total of 2,378 live individuals were exported from Uganda for the pet trade (total of all undeclared and commercial exports) (UNEP-WCMC 2013). All exports occurred from 2000 to 2012 and, with the exception of 2009 when no commercial exports were recorded, ranged from 21 to 975 individuals per year (average of 216 individuals per year) (UNEP-WCMC 2013). Exports from 2004 on have all been below 180 individuals per year (UNEP-WCMC 2013).
It is likely that most if not all specimens that enter the trade market are collected from within the boundaries of the Rwenzori National Park in Uganda.
