Was crawling sideways on a concrete wall at 2am . We have a bunch of these in our county unfortunately.
0.5-1cm in length. Most appear black to the naked eye but brown when illuminated from below. Found on the underside of submerged leaves, on submerged branches, and occasionally swimming upside-down along the surface of the water. pH of water was about 6.3. Image taken in darkfield.
Usually about 3-7mm in length. Appear light gray to the naked eye. Found on the underside of leaves in small pools fed by seasonal stream. Often found in clusters. pH 6.1-6.3. Image taken in darkfield.
